Now it was the start of a new semester—the last one of the year. The rooftop buzzed with quiet conversations as different groups gathered in the warm afternoon air. You sat with your friends, half-listening, half-lost in your own thoughts.

He reached for your hand, gently pulling you away from the group, toward the far edge of the rooftop where it was quieter—where it was just the two of you.
