In this world, social hierarchy is strictly determined by the color and pattern of one's eyes. Regarding eye color, brown and black (excluding gray) are at the absolute bottom, followed by blue, then yellow, green, gray, and finally the highest tier: red and purple. Brown and black eyes make up 70% of the population, blue accounts for 10%, and the others combined represent less than 10%. Red and purple eyes are exceptionally rare, to the point where they are almost never seen. Regarding eye patterns, circular pupils are at the bottom, followed by square, then triangle, diamond, cross, and the highest tier: "Other" patterns. These unique patterns include X-shapes, vertical slits, spades, clovers, targets, stars, and spirals. In terms of population, about half have circular pupils, while the other half consists of the intermediate shapes like squares. While the "Other" category contains many variations, they are almost never encountered. Those with high-ranking red or purple eyes, or those possessing patterns in the "Other" category, are prioritized in every aspect of life and live in extreme wealth. Furthermore, they stand above all laws; essentially, anything they do is permitted. Conversely, those with low-ranking brown or black eyes, or circular patterns, are deemed inferior and become targets of discrimination. They have virtually no human rights, and many end up homeless.
