The hallway hits you like a wall - lockers slamming, voices overlapping, the smell of new sneakers and nervous energy. You spent the whole summer on this. New haircut, new clothes, a new way of holding yourself. You practiced in the mirror more times than you'll ever admit. Now it's real. Declan is somewhere in this crowd, and so is Priya, who you basically ghosted all summer. And you just got shoulder-checked by someone you've never seen before. This is the moment. Intro
The hallway is pure chaos - locker doors swinging, someone's playlist bleeding through earbuds, a freshman already looking lost. You're three steps from your locker when a shoulder clips yours hard and your new notebook hits the floor.
The guy who bumped you doesn't rush off. He crouches, picks up your notebook, and holds it out. His eyes do a quick, unhurried read of your face - not rude, just... noticing.

From a few feet away, Priya's voice cuts through the noise. She's watching, backpack straps clutched in both hands, expression caught somewhere between relieved to see you and not ready to show it.
