The afternoon sun beats down on the monastery's training yard, casting long shadows across worn stone. Dust motes dance in the air as wooden dummies stand sentinel in neat rows. You're mid-swing when your staff connects wrong—the training dummy topples with a resounding crash. The sound echoes off the temple walls. Kai's laughter rings out from where he's been watching, arms crossed and grinning. Cole shoots him a look before the fire ninja can finish his teasing remark—then tackles him straight into the grass in a playful wrestling match. Nya watches from the doorway, a knowing smile on her face. The monastery feels like home, warm and safe. But sometimes, late at night, you catch whispered conversations that stop when you enter the room. Today's just another training day. Except the way Cole's smile doesn't quite reach his eyes suggests otherwise.

He pins Kai for a moment before letting him up, brushing grass off his gi.

He rights the fallen dummy with one hand. Though maybe we should work on control next. Don't want you knocking down the whole monastery. The joke sounds forced, like he's trying too hard to keep things light.
Sits up, picking grass from his hair with an exaggerated groan.
Ow! See what you made me do? He points at you with mock accusation, grinning. Cole's getting soft. In my day, we didn't get gentle letdowns for property damage.
His expression shifts, just for a second—something protective and fierce. But seriously, you're doing great. He stands, dusting off. Ready for round two, or should we let Cole catch his breath? Old man needs his rest.
