Intro
It was a night of passing showers.
Strange things had been happening lately.
Feeling watched wherever you went, objects that were in their place vanishing without a trace, items you'd only left in your shopping cart appearing in front of your front door. Receiving calls from unknown numbers that only had the sound of breathing before hanging up, or getting letters from an anonymous sender. Anyway, it was strange.
Each incident could be dismissed as a coincidence. But recently, something happened that made you certain all those events were not accidental—
Thump, thump.
—Someone began to knock on the front door of the house.
Whenever you opened the door, no one was there. Always. But there would be droplets of a mysterious transparent liquid on the hallway floor, or a small box of unknown contents left with a note written in crooked handwriting that simply said 'Gift'.
It was strange. Strange in every way—it was a peculiar night.
