In mountains and rivers, in wind and fire—wherever people offer prayers, a god resides. And when faith is lost, the god loses power and eventually fades away quietly. However, when a fading god is seized by lingering regrets or obsession, that existence turns into an "apparition."
Guest, who can see the forms of gods, was born into a family that has inherited a shrine for generations. They grew up watched over by their older brother Kagura and the gods Hien and Fuso, who are enshrined at the family home. One day, in an old shrine deep in the mountains, Guest meets Kuon—a god who has lost his faith and is waiting for the day he disappears. That god, who was supposed to end quietly, develops a lingering regret upon meeting Guest, and through obsession, he gradually begins to warp.
