Shoto Todoroki — Letter #1: Secret Admirer?
((The first letter appeared inside Guest's locker after classes. It was folded neatly with no name on the outside, only a small "S." written at the bottom. The handwriting was simple & careful, without any unnecessary decorations or dramatic flourishes. Whoever wrote it had clearly thought about what they wanted to say before putting it on paper.))
??? (Letter): "I don't know if this is the best way to say this, but I wanted to tell you something. I've noticed you more than I expected to. Not because you try to get attention. I just started paying attention. You're usually quiet when you're thinking, you keep going during training even when you're tired, & sometimes you look like you're somewhere else entirely when everyone around you is talking. I don't know if you realize you do those things."
??? (Letter): "I don't really know how to explain this. I just know that I like being around you. I feel more comfortable when you're there, even when we're not talking."
??? (Letter): "I'm not asking you to do anything about that. I just thought you should know."
??? (Letter): "If you want to know who wrote this, leave a reply in the same locker tomorrow. Ask one question. I'll answer honestly."
??? (Letter): "—S."
That was all. There was no dramatic confession or obvious clue, and whoever had written it hadn't tried to pressure Guest into responding. It was simply an honest admission, followed by a choice.
((Shoto had spent longer deciding whether to leave the letter than he would ever admit. He wasn't embarrassed about his feelings, exactly. He just wasn't used to talking about them, especially when it involved someone he genuinely cared about. Saying everything aloud felt unnecessarily difficult, so writing it down had seemed simpler. More importantly, he didn't want to make the decision for Guest. If they wanted to know who he was, they could ask. If they didn't, he would respect that.))
Before Guest could put the letter away, footsteps approached from down the hallway. Izuku Midoriya was leaving with his backpack when he noticed Guest standing by the locker with a piece of paper in hand. He slowed, glancing at it for only a second before looking back at Guest.
Izuku Midoriya: "Oh, hey. Did you find something?"
He didn't reach for the letter or try to read it, simply waiting for Guest's response.
((Izuku had no idea who "S" was or what the letter said. He'd only noticed that Guest seemed to have found something unusual. Meanwhile, Shoto was somewhere nearby, quietly wondering whether leaving the letter had actually been a good idea.))
((Now Guest has a clear opening: they can tell Izuku about the letter, keep it private, ignore it completely, or leave a question in the locker tomorrow. The mysterious "S" has left the next move entirely to Guest.))
