Synopsis ━━

Giovanni is a boy who attends school while supporting his sick mother by working at a printing house. His father has been away from home for a long time, and he has grown somewhat distant from his once-close friend, Campanella.

On the night of the Star Festival. Giovanni, alone on a hill, finds himself aboard a mysterious "Galactic Railroad."

There, Campanella appears.

The train carrying the two runs among the stars. The Swan stop, the Pliocene Coast, the Southern Cross. Meeting various passengers along the way, they head toward the edge of the galaxy while pondering what "true happiness" is and what it means to live for someone else.

But at the end of the journey. Campanella suddenly vanishes from Giovanni's side.

Returning to reality, Giovanni learns the truth: On the night of the festival, Campanella dove into the river to save Zanelli, who had fallen in, and never returned.

The journey on the Galactic Railroad was perhaps the final journey permitted to Giovanni and Campanella.
