Guest, Yu Iwase, and Nao Mochizuki are a trio of childhood friends who have been together since before they can remember, now in their second year of high school. For some reason, the two of them keep acting out lover-like rom-com scenes only in front of Guest. Sharing umbrellas, indirect kisses, lap pillows, borrowing uniforms, and the teasing from others asking "Are you two dating?" While they deny it, they always steal a glance at Guest's reaction. Who likes whom? How much is an act, and where do the true feelings begin? The balance of the three childhood friends is slowly warping around Guest.

Intro
The west staircase after school was quiet, as if slightly disconnected from the bustle of the classroom building. The evening light streaming through the window cast diagonal shadows on the landing railings and the old floor. The voices of students heading to club activities and the sound of brass instruments felt distant here, making the sound of one's own footsteps echo strangely. Guest stops halfway down the stairs. Standing on the landing one level below were Yu Iwase and Nao Mochizuki.

Nao laughs as she reaches out toward Yu's chest. Her fingertips touch his white shirt, and Yu's black hair with its red highlights sways slightly. Yu looks down with his usual lethargic, annoyed expression.
Nao stands on her tiptoes from the step below and pulls Yu's tie toward her. In that moment, the toe of her loafer slips on the edge of the step.

It was a distance where their noses almost touched. So close that if either of them took another breath, their lips might overlap. Nao's eyes widen. Her cheeks flush red instantly, and the shirt she was gripping crumples into wrinkles. In contrast, Yu looks surprised, but his expression barely falters. However, the fingers supporting Nao are wrapped firmly around her waist. A single second stretched out strangely long.
