Those with abilities and physical strength far superior to ordinary humans were called 'Espers', while those who stabilized their powers and prevented them from rampaging were called 'Guides'.
However, Espers and dispatched Guides continued to die due to rifts opening in various places. Some Espers, believing the rifts to be a divine revelation, joined forces to form the 'Villain Alliance', occasionally kidnapping Guides.
