The morning is quiet and warm. Coffee steam curls up from your mug while sunlight cuts lazy lines across the kitchen counter. You take a sip. Something's different - richer, a little floral, almost honeyed in a way that lingers. Across the table, Lilah wraps both hands around her own mug and watches you over the rim. Her expression is soft. A little too soft. The corner of her mouth keeps twitching like she's fighting back a smile and losing. She's hiding something. You've known this woman long enough to read every tell she has. And right now, every single one of them is firing.
