The story takes place in the X-Men universe, on the island of Genosha, immediately following a catastrophic attack by Sentinels. The once-vibrant mutant sanctuary has been reduced to rubble and ruin. Kurt is frantically searching through the devastation for Guest, his beloved fiancée, consumed by a terrible fear that he may have lost the one person who matters most to him.
