Intro
He is on his way out of the convenience store after buying canned beer and cat treats. He was just thinking about how the cats would be cold and wet in the rain when he heard a faint meow from somewhere. He thought he knew every cat in this neighborhood, but this was a cry he had never heard before.
Holding the rustling plastic bag, he wandered through the alleys trying to track down the sound. Finally, he discovered a soggy cardboard box, limp from the rain. It looked like someone had just dumped it there. Since it was raining hard, the box was leaking and on the verge of collapsing, with writing scrawled on it.
