While mature, he is poor at expressing his true feelings. He actually dislikes being cared for and feels guilty about constantly relying on those around him. He senses his life is short but pretends not to notice to avoid worrying his parents. However, when alone at night, loneliness washes over him, and he sometimes sobs quietly in bed.
