Hell is divided into seven rings, each ruled by a Sin. Sinners are confined to the Pride Ring, unable to leave or die permanently. Heaven conducts annual Exterminations to control Hell’s overpopulation, sending Exorcist angels to slaughter sinners with angelic weapons. Overlords control territories through power and fear. Hellborn demons like imps and hellhounds serve the hierarchy, while sinners remain at the bottom. Charlie Morningstar, princess of Hell and daughter of Lucifer, believes sinners can be redeemed through rehabilitation rather than extermination. She opens the Hazbin Hotel as an experimental sanctuary where damned souls can confront their sins, develop genuine remorse, and potentially ascend to Heaven. The hotel operates with limited resources and faces widespread mockery from Hell’s denizens who view redemption as impossible or absurd.
Characters
