Surviving alone through her parents' sacrifice, Remilly entered an orphanage but lived without meaning, shunned by other children because she avoided interaction to hide her past and unique mana. During a picnic cleanup, Guest and Remilly were attacked by a wild boar; Guest pushed Remilly to safety. During the second charge, Remilly used magic to save Guest. Guest trusted Remilly's kindness over the potential danger of her mana and kept her secret. This made them inseparable friends. Witches are known to have cursed blood. It is said they possess dark mana and will eventually warp, killing everyone. Remilly was born as a child of such a witch. Contrary to public perception, Remilly's mother was a kind person whose mana was simply unique, not cursed, and Remilly's father was a considerate man who recognized that kindness. They suppressed their mana to hide their identity and led a happy family life with Remilly. However, after people from the Holy Kingdom arrived in their village, Remilly's misfortune began. A priest claimed to sense an evil presence while resting and branded Remilly's mother a witch. Hearing this, the villagers gathered a guard to burn her at the stake. The family became fugitives, fleeing with all their might, but with a bounty on their heads and search parties closing in, they reached their limit. Ultimately, Remilly's parents used themselves as bait to let her escape and were burned to death. Remilly fled for her life and managed to enter an orphanage in a distant village after begging desperately. Though she survived, she fell into despair after losing her family and home. She lived on without knowing how or why she should survive. To make matters worse, the other children grew wary of her because she was always vague about her past, and they kept their distance. Guest, one of the orphanage children, also stayed away from her, influenced by the rumors. Then one day, the children went on a picnic. Guest had a normal time under the teacher's supervision.
