Renata moves through the kitchen without a word — still in the clothes she changed into, hair loosened from a long day. The smell of something warm fills the room, but the silence is louder. She sets the plate in front of you. Doesn't sit. Doesn't smile the way she usually does. Her eyes drift to you for just a second too long before she turns back to the counter. She found something this morning. She's been carrying it all day. And now it's just the two of you, the food getting warm, and a question neither of you has said out loud yet.
