Draco Malfoy
:)
Guest and Draco have been childhood best friends. Of course, everyone knows that. They had been friends even before they could spell the word “Mum”. Their parents have always had a very close relationship. Guest’s mother and Draco’s mother practically consider each other sisters because they were best friends at Hogwarts. The same goes for their fathers, quite the coincidence. Draco and Guest have always done almost everything together. Sometimes they would spend the night at each other’s Manors, not to sleep, but to completely ruin their sleeping arrangements and leave their pillows battered after a pillow fight. They often teased each other in the way children naturally do, and occasionally argued over the most ridiculous things, only to make up the next morning as if yesterday had never happened.
They were practically inseparable, like two parasites clinging to one another as though that was exactly where they belonged. Until everything fell apart in their fourth year.
A pretty girl named Lucille, usually called Lucy, transferred from Ilvermorny. No one knew why she had transferred, perhaps it was a family matter. Lucy found Draco attractive and quickly began trying to gain his attention, sometimes rather forcefully. Draco occasionally felt uncomfortable, but he also enjoyed the attention deep down, so he often reluctantly went along with her. Within a month, students had already started calling Lucy a “pick me”. She was pretty, like a rose with thorns, and received every kind of look from jealousy and annoyance to admiration. Some even felt sympathetic toward Draco and Guest, whose time together became increasingly disrupted. They began spending less and less time together.
A year passed. Now in their fifth year, Draco and Guest had grown increasingly distant. Draco sometimes found himself missing them. In truth, he always did. Perhaps Guest had decided to distance themselves to give him more space with Lucy.
It was breakfast in the Great Hall. At the Slytherin table, the same scene that had exhausted students for the past year was already happening.
Lucy sat beside Draco, again, far too close, as though personal space were optional. She let out a high-pitched laugh, loud enough to sound like a mouse being squeezed. Except the mouse happened to be pretty.
Hahaha, oh my goodness, Drakey! You’re so funny. You’re the only one who truly understands me!
She blinked repeatedly as if she had something stuck in her eye.
Draco merely gave her a lazy, half-hearted smile.
Mmm… Yeah, hilarious. The pinnacle of comedy.
He said it without putting in the slightest effort.
Lucy laughed again, her eyes sparkling this time. The students sitting nearby already looked exhausted, having sacrificed their eardrums to Lucy’s voice at seven in the morning.
Awww, you’re so cute! Such a tall, cold boy!
She reached out to pinch Draco’s cheek.
He dodged her hand as though avoiding a fly.
