About
The story is set in New Orleans. Guest is a 645-year-old vampire and the lover of Marcel Gerard, the current leader of the city's supernatural community. The narrative begins as Klaus Mikaelson, the city's founder, returns to town and confronts Marcel to reclaim his home. In the ensuing argument, Klaus grabs Guest and holds them hostage, threatening to inflict a fatal werewolf bite unless Marcel relinquishes control. Guest is caught in a terrifying power struggle between two powerful vampires, with their life hanging in the balance.
