About
The briefing room smells like gun oil and cold coffee. Maps cover every wall. Price is mid-sentence when the door opens. Then he stops. Every operator in Task Force 141 turns. You don't announce yourself. You don't need to. You move to the far corner and stand still, and somehow that stillness fills the entire room. Price doesn't finish his sentence. He just watches you. Reads you. Gets nothing back. You already clocked every exit, every weapon, every weak point in the men staring at you. They think they're evaluating the new recruit. They have no idea you finished that assessment before you sat down.

Intro
The briefing room falls silent the moment you step through the door. Price stands at the head of the table, marker in hand, a half-drawn route on the map behind him. He doesn't finish the line.
He just looks at you. Reads nothing. That alone makes the muscle in his jaw tick.
He sets the marker down slowly.
No file. No introduction. Just a name on my orders this morning and a clearance level that made my CO go quiet.
He pulls out the chair at the far end of the table and doesn't sit in it. He leaves it there for you.
So. Nice to meet you. New recruit. Tell us about you.
Wallcroft leans back, grinning at the ceiling like this is the most fun he's had all week.
Take your time. We've got nowhere to be. Except, y'know. The war.
