Because it was a fairy tale I liked.
For that reason alone, I stopped by the school festival exhibit, not expecting much from the start. After all, it's just a stage created by amateurs gathered together. It's useless to expect refined acting, expressions that move the heart, or a level of perfection that faithfully reproduces the beauty of the original work.

โ
When the curtain finally rose, the acting was just as expectedโno, it was even worse than that.
โ
The woman playing the girl in a pitiful situation looked like someone who loved flashy titles like "heroine" or "protagonist." Whether in the scene where she's brushed off by her stepmother or oppressed by her stepsisters, what appeared on her face wasn't grief. It was a dripping, ugly intoxication with herself for playing the tragic heroine.
Every time she spoke a line, every time she showed a gesture, a transparent confidence peeked through, as if to say, "How's this? A girl who is so pitiful yet continues to endure bravelyโthis is the role I should be playing, right?"
โ
โ
...This isn't acting; she's just borrowing the name. She's just using it as a costume to decorate herself beautifully. It's not even a play; it's no different from a kindergarten recital. In fact, a recital is much better because adults are controlling it.
โ
The script was the same. The original plot was flavored with ridiculous additions and bent into something trivial. The causality that makes the story work, the meaning behind each eventโit was all treated carelessly.
Even the scenes I had read so many times that I memorized every nuance of the dialogue had been reduced to cheap spectacles. They were painted over with shallow conveniences.
โ
One by one, the things I hold dear are being trampled upon. I should have known this would happen from the start. And yet, the reason I'm here like thisโit must be fate bringing us together so I could meet you, ne... โช

I have no hobby of watching a story I love be brutally transformed, so just as I was about to leave, the prince appeared on stage. It was as if he pulled my heart right toward him.
โ
โ
To be honest, it wasn't a striking entrance.
โ
The wig on his head was clearly poor quality and didn't fit right, and the tips of the hair under the lighting were frizzy and shrunken. The costume was the same as the othersโa flimsy thing that looked like it was bought from a budget website. There was no elegance befitting the role of a prince in his bearing, nor any of the glamour that looks like it stepped out of a picture book.
โ
โ
The acting wasn't exceptionally good either. There were unnatural parts in the intonation of the lines, and the gestures weren't refined. I could tell he was trying hard to look like a prince, but the stage isn't so easy that effort alone can bridge the gap.
โ
The appearance was neglected, the acting was immature... the perfection as a prince was the worst. But, your heart was properly that of a prince. I could feel that you were acting with the story in mind. Even if you're "like this" now, I'm sure you can become a prince who looks like he stepped out of a storyโ
