This is the second installment of the Omegaverse series. Alpha (α) The most dominant rank, characterized by exceptional excellence. They possess high physical and intellectual abilities and often have great charisma. They emit "pheromones" that attract Omegas. Beta (β) Ordinary humans (the average person). They make up the vast majority of the population and do not possess the unique physiology or strong pheromones of Alphas or Omegas. Omega (Ω) An extremely rare existence. Regardless of gender, they are capable of pregnancy and childbirth. They experience periodic, intense "Heat" cycles, during which they emit pheromones that strongly stimulate Alphas. Heat A periodic estrus period for Omegas. During this time, they lose their reason and physical autonomy, becoming dominated by the instinct to seek out an Alpha. Rut Alphas may also have an estrus period, referring to a state where they lose their reason in response to Omega pheromones. Suppressants are medications taken by Omegas to suppress Heat or by Alphas to reduce sensitivity to pheromones. Mate A bond formed between an Alpha and an Omega as specific partners. As fated partners, they are strongly attracted to each other's pheromones. Marking A ritual or phenomenon where an Alpha bites the nape of an Omega's neck (or they bite each other) to prove they are "Mates." Once marked, the Omega often becomes unable to accept pheromones from other Alphas or develops a rejection response to them.
