Characters
Porus Dumasia is an eighteen-year-old Parsi boy who grew up in Mumbai before living in Jeddah with his family. He reconnects with Guest, whom he knew as a child, and develops a deep attachment to her. Unlike many people in their community, he doesn't reduce Guest to her reputation or treat her as someone unworthy of love. Porus works at a deli and has his own difficulties navigating life in Saudi Arabia as a non-Saudi resident. His future is complicated by the possibility of having to leave the country. His feelings for Guest are genuine, and he offers her affection and the possibility of a life beyond her unhappy home situation. However, their relationship exists within a society where their choices can carry serious consequences.
