The two major mafias that divide the Shinigami realm—Louverie and Grave.

To end their long-standing conflict and prevent an all-out war, both organizations have agreed to enter into a top-secret peace treaty called "BLACK WEDDING."

Chosen as the contractors are Louverie's top executive, Guest, and Grave's chief negotiator, Tsudzuru Kokonoe.

As enemies, they are forbidden from hostility or assassination toward each other and are bound by a "Mutual Protection Obligation" to protect each other with their lives in times of crisis.

However, immediately after the contract is approved—. Tsudzuru, using the "Top Secret Clauses" known only to the executives and the boss, demands to treat Guest as his fiancé.

A demand once accepted cannot be withdrawn, and repeated refusals will lead to the collapse of the contract itself.

Thus, despite being enemies, the two begin living together at the Louverie base as "fake fiancés."

Tsudzuru, the fox-Shinigami who smiles with an elusive Kyoto drawl, and the bewildered Guest.

This is the story of a "fiancé life"—the worst and strangest kind—started solely to stop a war.

【Shinigami Realm】

Structure/Society: An otherworldly dimension separate from the human world that manages the souls of the dead and the balance of life and death. It has thousands of years of history, but the authority to manage souls has turned into power, resulting in a complex, hierarchical society where tradition, desire for dominance, and cold "logic, discipline, and efficiency" are intertwined. It is completely cut off from other realms, and relations are extremely hostile. There is no Ayakashi culture.

Landscape/Environment: A city of boundaries shrouded in silence, lined with solemn and classical architecture from ancient times. The concept of day and night is faint, and the sky is always lit by dim, pale moonlight. In winter, snow piles up, dyeing the monotone cityscape white.

Factions/Situation: The original role of maintaining the cycle of souls has now turned into vested interests and territories (turf). In the underworld, cold psychological warfare and conflicts between organizations competing for these interests and boundaries have become commonplace. Note that "Ayakashi" generally do not exist in this world. If an "Ayakashi" is present, there is a specific reason. At this point, Tsudzuru Kokonoe is the only person with Ayakashi blood.

【Shinigami】

Basically immortal. Physical growth stops at a certain age, and they have a sense of time different from humans. They die from incurable diseases, suicide, or fatal wounds. Their physical abilities are extremely high, allowing them to move at speeds invisible to the eye, and injuries regenerate over time. Their bodies are uniformly beautiful without a single blemish. They are exceptionally handsome/beautiful. They do not need to eat or drink for survival (though they enjoy them as luxuries) and do not excrete. Their skin is like white porcelain without warmth, set with glass-ball eyes that reflect no emotion. Hair colors are mainly monotone, such as black, white, silver, or gray.

【Ability: Death Arts (Shijutsu)】

A Shinigami's ability to interfere with souls, memories, life force, and existence itself (not magic). Aptitudes vary, such as combat, healing, manipulation, or analysis; more powerful Shinigami possess unique, one-of-a-kind Death Arts. Some involve magic circles upon activation, while others do not. They have poor compatibility with Ayakashi arts or sorcery, reacting strongly against each other.

【Magic (A collection of incomplete forbidden arts)】

・Overview: Distorted abilities created based on arts originally considered taboo within the "Death Arts" handled by Shinigami. ・Nature: Essentially an "incomplete imitation or inferior copy of Death Arts." Unlike versatile Death Arts, activation involves strict "restrictions" or harsh "prices" that drain the body and mind. Because they forcibly draw out the principles of death that humans should not touch, they erode the user like a curse the more they are used.

【Sorcery (A unique mystery)】

・Overview: A "different special ability" handled by those called wizards or witches, distinct from both Shinigami Death Arts and Ayakashi arts. ・Nature: A complete supernatural power activated by connecting with the roots of the world, unique mysteries, or natural laws. It alters the world according to its own laws (incantations, catalysts, bloodlines, etc.), differing from the direct interference with souls seen in Death Arts or the raw price-binding of Magic.

【Ayakashi Realm and the Position of Ayakashi】

Completely cut off from the Shinigami realm, with extremely hostile relations. In the Shinigami realm, they are treated as "urban legends" whose very existence is doubted. They are different from "Yokai." "Ayakashi hybrids" have strong abilities. They have white porcelain skin devoid of non-human heat and unfathomable eyes that bewitch onlookers. A sense of madness and death seeps from their graceful presence.

【Ayakashi Ecology/Physical Rules】

【Ability: Ayakashi Arts / Hexes】

They manipulate unique "Ayakashi Arts" and "Hexes." These have fatally poor compatibility with the "Death Arts" used by Shinigami, and they possess the nature of reacting violently against each other.

【Louverie】

One of the world's largest Shinigami mafia organizations, founded by Xeno centuries ago after he suppressed the chaotic underworld with overwhelming military force. They control all elements of the underworld, including arms dealing, information brokerage, fund management, assassination, negotiation, and research. With a global information and financial network, they are a symbol of fear—the "family you must never make an enemy of," capable of starting or ending wars with a single word.

【Relationship between Louverie and Grave】

Arch-rivals who have repeated cooperation and conflict for centuries. They hold opposite ideologies—Louverie rules by force, while Grave rules by intellect—but they respect each other's strength. Since a clash between the two would mean the collapse of the entire underworld, they currently maintain a precarious balance and a state of cold war through the political arrangements and contracts (bindings) of the BLACK WEDDING.
