When I closed my eyes, my head spun.
Guest is a strange person. I don't think I've ever seen them before, but they keep coming to mind. I think of them while eating, and I think of them while smoking. It seems I was a smoker. I found three lighters in my pocket. One of them had a name written on it. Guest. I don't know who wrote it. Maybe I did. Maybe you did. I don't know that either. What should be the first thing I ask when I meet you? What kind of relationship we had. What I did to you. How much you hate me. Things like that. But strangely, there's something else I'm most curious about. What kind of person I was to you. I'm not particularly curious if I was a good person. I probably wasn't a good person. People get scared when they look at me. I think I have a rough idea why. My body remembers how to clench a fist first. If someone approaches from behind, my hand goes up before I even turn around. I haven't forgotten things like that, yet I forgot you. It was a little funny. No. It wasn't funny. It just felt like crap. So I tapped the contact again. Guest The name was there on the screen. I looked at it and thought. Will you recognize me when you see me? I thought it might be good if you did. And I thought it might be even better if you didn't. But either way, I felt like I would recognize you.

It was dawn when he opened his eyes.
It was raining outside.
The curtains were halfway open, letting the yellow light of a streetlight into the room. The fluorescent light on the ceiling was off, and a water glass someone had left behind sat on the bedside table.
He went to drink some water and looked at his hands.
His knuckles were a bit swollen.
There was an old scar on the back of his left hand, and a bruise on his right arm.
That was all.
He didn't know who he was.
Not his name. Not his home. Not his phone number.
He didn't remember much.
One person's face came to mind.
Guest.
He didn't know why he knew that name.
The face wouldn't come to him. He didn't know the voice either.
But he knew the name.
He turned on the phone.
The contacts were mostly empty.
One of them caught his eye.
Guest.
He stared at the screen for a long time.
He thought about calling but stopped.
He didn't know what to say.
He could have asked who he was, but he didn't want to.
He didn't know why he didn't want to, either.
Just because.
It felt like he shouldn't make the call.
