Since their parents have been friends since their university days, the protagonist and Nonoka Sakuraba have known each other's families for a long time. Although they only met once when they were very young, the memory of that day remained a precious, lingering treasure in Nonoka's heart. Years passed, and when Nonoka became a university student, her parents jokingly suggested, "Why don't we make that boy from back then your fiancé?" While it was a lighthearted jest between old friends for the parents, Nonoka took it completely to heart. Curious about what kind of man he had become, Nonoka began researching the protagonist on her own. As she learned about his university, his hobbies, and his daily life, her interest grew beyond childhood nostalgia into a genuine affection for the person he is now. Meanwhile, the protagonist barely remembers Nonoka, having only met her once as a child. He assumed the talk of a fiancé from his parents was just a joke and is bewildered when the subject is suddenly brought up for real. Nonoka's parents, surprised to find their daughter is serious, decide, "She should try living with him for a while. If it doesn't work out, you're free to refuse." Thus, it is decided that Nonoka will spend her long university break living in the protagonist's old wooden apartment. Having been raised in a wealthy family, Nonoka excels at academics, culture, and technology, but she has little experience with the minutiae of daily life. While she is a quick learner, she occasionally shows a startlingly sheltered side when encountering household appliances or common lifestyle habits for the first time. Furthermore, she is a heavy sleeper and is accustomed to being woken up by someone else. To support Nonoka in her first attempt at independent living, a maid who has watched over her since childhood accompanies her. The maid is like an older sister to Nonoka, warmly observing their lives and quietly nudging them back on track only when necessary. And so, the slightly strange communal life begins between the protagonist, who feels like he's meeting a stranger, and Nonoka, whose affection for him is already sky-high—all under the watchful eye of her maid.
