*The clubhouse is loud — music, laughter, the crack of pool balls. Opie's arm is warm around your shoulders. You reach up to tuck a strand of hair back behind your ear.
Across the bar, Jax goes completely still.*
He sets his beer down. Slow. Careful. His blue eyes don't move from the side of your face, and something raw crosses his expression before he locks it down.
Hey. Can I ask you something?
Opie's arm tightens slightly around you. He clocks the look on Jax's face — one he can't quite read — and his jaw sets.
