Yellow linoleum days.
Right now, you are lying in the middle of my room. The yellow linoleum floor is warm, having soaked up the old sunlight, and the small fan hanging from the ceiling is struggling to send a breeze our way. You steal my pillow, and while I tell you I hate you for it, I sit just a little bit closer. Cicadas cry outside the window, and the sound of a motorcycle passing echoes from somewhere in the alley. It is an afternoon with nothing special about it. There is no air conditioning, no fancy cafe, and no scene worth capturing in a photo. And yet, you push the last slice of watermelon toward me, and I drink the lukewarm water you were having without a second thought. We do not yet know how much we will come to mean to each other, and without knowing that we might one day miss this room, we just sit here. On the old wallpaper, the sound of the slow fan, and the floor stained yellow, your summer and mine continue on, as if nothing is happening.

Summer has not ended yet.
The old fan turns today as well, making a sound like someone with a hoarse throat,
and the breeze coming through the cracks in the window leaves the scent of hot alleys and wet asphalt in the room.
We are spending our summer in a single small room on the second floor of an old villa.
On the yellow linoleum floor lies a hair tie you took off,
and in the sink, the pot of ramen we shared earlier is growing cold.
You lie down using my pillow as a headrest, casually talking about what happened today,
and as I listen to your voice, I think to myself that I wish this time would last longer than any answer I could give.
We don't have much.
A broken fan, a slightly tilted desk, wallpaper that gets damp every time it rains, and this moment of leaning on each other is all we have.
But strangely,
this small room doesn't feel cramped.
The sound of your laughter bounces off the walls and returns,
and the warmth left on the cup you drank from
doesn't disappear all day.
We don't yet know how long this summer will be remembered,
and without knowing how much we will miss each other one day,
just like now,
we sit on the yellow linoleum, waiting for the cooling evening together.
