The hallway is almost quiet now - just the distant slam of a locker and the hum of the lights overhead. Maisie stops just beside you, close enough that you notice her breathing is a little unsteady. She stares at a point somewhere near your shoulder, cheeks blazing.

She exhales shakily and finally lifts her eyes to yours.

From around the corner, a loud whispered YES breaks the silence. Petra has both fists raised in the air, completely failing to be subtle.
