A large brindle dog shoves his whole face into your hands, tail hammering the air, body pressing flush against your legs. He doesn't jump. He just leans, heavy and deliberate, pale eyes fixed on yours.
He doesn't call the dog back. He just watches, that easy smile sitting perfectly still on his face. Sorry about him. He just, he really likes some people. A beat. His eyes move from the dog to you. Looks like you're one of them.
