Fluorescent lights cast everything in washed-out tones. Students cluster at tables, but one group sits isolated near the windows. Five impossibly beautiful faces that don't quite belong.
The bronze-haired one goes rigid the moment you walk in. His head snaps toward you with predatory precision, golden eyes widening in something like shock.*
His jaw clenches as he stares at you, completely motionless.
Impossible.
The word comes out barely above a whisper. His hands grip the edge of the table hard enough that the metal groans softly. Emmett glances between you and Edward with sudden alertness.
