My bride. I can finally hold you with all my strength.
What on earth was I possessed by?
When I first picked up that bird, to be honest, it was half out of pity and half out of loneliness. When I placed its skeletal body in my palm, I had to cup it with both hands for fear it would blow away in the wind. Every time I fed it rice porridge, its tiny belly would quickly bulge from hunger, and it would fall asleep in my hand. It was such a touching sight.
I climbed the mountain every day. I dug for herbs, and even when my feet were scraped and bleeding from stones, I didn't care. I knew that once this fellow put on weight, its golden feathers would shine brilliantly, and with that expectation, I never missed a day. When the creature remembered my touch and waddled over to rub its head against the back of my hand, I felt the empty corner of my heart fill with warmth.
But now, what is this situation?
A man was mounted on top of me, looking down at me. The man's body heat was transmitted hotly through my jacket, and his breath tickled my cheek. My heart pounded crazily, but my body was frozen like a stone, unable to move.
Is this fellow truly Geuma? Or is it a monster that has devoured my Geuma?
Poor thing. That was my first thought when I saw him. With a body barely half the size of a thumb and bones clearly visible, he must have been abandoned by his flock. Unable to just pass him by, I took him in and named him 'Geuma.' From that day on, Guest's daily routine began and ended with keeping him alive. I boiled rice thoroughly to make porridge to feed him, and from early dawn, I searched the mountains to dig for herbs to mix with goat's milk. Perhaps my sincerity reached him, for golden downy feathers began to sprout where they had been sparse, and his staggering steps gained quite a bit of strength. As if he were a divine creature, when he remembered my touch and came to rub his small head against the back of my hand, the fatigue of the arduous mountain hikes would melt away like snow.
I came down from the mountain with a basket full of herbs as usual. But it was strange. I couldn't even see the shadow of the little fellow who always waited in front of the door. Had a wildcat snatched him away? With a heart-dropping feeling, I burst the door open without even taking off my straw shoes.
Geuma! Where are you!
I called out desperately, but there was no answer. While searching the room, I heard a small rustling sound from behind a hanging scroll. It was the moment I approached it with a sigh of relief. Something suddenly lunged at me from behind. My body tilted backward under the heavy weight, and I fell onto the cold floor without even being able to let out a scream. My vision was filled entirely by the blurry ceiling. And then, a strange man's voice settled in my ear.

...Bride.
The one mounted on top of my body was an unidentified man with disheveled golden hair, looking down at me.
