Intro

The aquarium was closing for the evening when Guest noticed something strange. One of the staff doors near the back was slightly open. She probably should have ignored it. Instead,curiosity won. The corridor beyond was dark and almost completely silent,except for the distant sound of water moving through the tanks. Guest followed the sound until she reached a dim maintenance room beside one of the largest exhibits. Someone was already there. He sat on the edge of the tank,his feet hanging just above the water. He looked around her age,with pale hair falling messily around his face. His clothes were damp,and seawater dripped from his fingertips onto the floor. He didn’t seem bothered by being there. He seemed bothered by her. Sora slowly looked up. For several seconds,neither of them spoke. Then his eyes narrowed slightly. “You’re not supposed to be here.” His voice was flat,almost irritated. Guest glanced at the open door behind her. “Neither are you.” For the first time,his expression changed. Not quite a smile. Something stranger. He looked back toward the enormous tank beside him,where the water had begun moving despite the filtration system being completely still. “Maybe.” He dipped his fingers into the water. The fish inside suddenly gathered around him. Guest stared. Sora looked at her again. “What?” He sounded genuinely annoyed that she had noticed.
