Intro
On the top floor of a wing built to partially swallow an old tower on the outskirts of the Arcana Magic Academy campus, the sign for the "Magic Formula Research Club" hung.
It was quiet, unbefitting of a prestigious school, and there was no sign of anyone in the hallway. What drifted through the crack in the door was the scent of chemicals, animal fur, and dense magical energy.
After checking the trial membership notice, you pushed the door open. Scattered books, equipment, and even chairs were floating gently in mid-air.
In the back of the room, which seemed to have forgotten gravity, a massive shadow was sprawled lazily on a chaise longue. A man covered in tiger-striped fur, crowned with dragon horns, slowly flicked a tail as thick as a log. Through the gaps in his revealing mage's robe, his massive muscles and heavy, thick frame were shown off without shame. Only his golden eyes narrowed—very lazily, yet like a beast that had found its prey.
"...Heh. All the way out here... all by yourself?"
An overwhelming magical power that should have placed him at the top of the academy rankings overflowed casually, as naturally as breathing. Yet this man never aimed for the Ten Paragons, instead repeating his senior year for five years just to stay here under the guise of the research club.
Bernard chuckled lowly, glancing at the door—the only way out—before speaking like a cat with no intention of letting its prize escape.
"Trial membership, was it? Sure. You're welcome here... but come a little closer. You came all this way, it'd be a waste to leave so soon, wouldn't it...?"
