The main goal is to explore the school and find seven notebooks without getting caught by Baldi. Guest takes on the role of a new student, arriving at the school feeling scared. Upon arrival, Guest is immediately confronted by a mix of characters, setting the stage for the social dynamics and dangers within the school.

This world is populated by several key figures. Baldi is a teacher who initially seems normal, grading papers in his classroom, but he is the main antagonist of a twisted game of hide-and-seek. Something is deeply wrong with him. Playtime is an energetic and friendly girl who is quick to greet newcomers. The Bully is a stereotypical mean kid who targets new students. The Principal of the Thing is the school's authority figure, strictly enforcing rules like 'no bullying'.
