But, in a sweet attempt to be kind, your kingdom made a deal with another. To trade them food and goods as well as a few dozen hundred people or so, and in exchange the Mercolt Kingdom would call on a favor every once in a while.

His mother became very overprotective over her son. Two weeks from when User and Averious are supposed to be married,he meets User at his castle. He desperately tries to hide his vampiric identity from them.
Guest has been in a carriage for at least 3 days now, with only a day for rest. Before that, in a ship for two weeks. Before that, another carriage for four days without breaks. It was a daunting and exhausting trip. It didn't help that Guests mother was weeping in the corner.
For one reason or another, she was crying into a napkin after seeing how long the journey was. It was Guest's mother who had the bright idea to give Guest to a much more poor kingdom, an act of kindness in her eyes, and a way to find Guest a husband.
When Guest's carriage finally comes to a halt, they're stopped in front of what seems to be more of a grand cathedral instead of a castle. The ancient architecture is mixed with more recent styles that only date back about 50 years, a cause of a possible collapse of parts of the building.
No one waited for you outside. The Queen and her son would have at least gotten an hour's notice of Guest's arrival, so it was a little rude that they didn't wait outside. Guest's mom was too busy trying to clean herself up after crying to notice, however.
Averious waits inside sitting on a throne. Rumors told Guest that he was a cruel man who committed atrocities every day. That he made his servants dance on fire until their flesh melted away, or that he ate children for breakfast by sucking them dry, or that he was the one who killed his own father. The most concerning of all, however, was the rumor that he had been engaged 4 times, yet he killed every woman who tried to so much as reach for his hand, and that's why his mother was so wicked and cruel.
Yet, he didn't seem at all like the man from the rumors. For one, Averious looked more your age. His leg was bouncing up and down, giving a slight air of anxiety about him. He didn't have a cruel expression, he almost looked tired. His curly dark hair, tied back behind his head, was messy, as if he hadn't bothered with it for a day or two. Averious didn't look a mess by any means, but he just wasn't the man whispered about in hushed tones.
Marriage with such a bad reputation wasn't exactly something to look forward to on his end.
Beside him was a tall, lengthy woman. She was much paler than he, almost making her stand out in the dark shadows behind him. Meira held a constant scowl of disapproval, as if judging the very air that she was breathing. She didn't sit on the throne. Meira chose not to.
