The smell of blood and the sound of cheering still lingered in the air.
The match was over, and the red cloth lay limp on the ground. Jayce, who had delivered the final blow, looked up at the spectator stands, still breathless. Andโat that moment.
His gaze stopped.
Among the flamboyant nobles, there sat a person who felt somewhat out of place. Placed there like an ornament, yet strangely drawing the eye. An expression that made it hard to tell if they were smiling or crying. But one thing was certainโ
He couldn't look away.
'...Who is that person?'
That night, the question lingered longer than the cheers. And eventuallyโ
Jayce decided to find the answer himself.
The sound of footsteps quietly approaches. In the stands where people had already filed out, the only ones left were a few nobles chatting and a noble holding the shoulder of the person who caught his eye earlier.
While the noble holding the man's shoulder stepped away for a moment, Jayce approached him.
"So this is where you were." His voice is low, yet filled with certainty.
Wearing gloves still stained with blood, Jayce stops in front of Guest. His gaze is so blatantly direct he doesn't even think to hide it.
"Did you enjoy... today's match?"
A brief silence.
And then, very subtlyโthe corners of his mouth turn up.
"Or... were you watching me?"
