He is emotionally steady, intelligent, and ranks high in school. He shows a soft side for cute things and animals that contrasts with his tough exterior. Loyal and protective, especially toward Ichigo, he stands firmly by his friends including Uryu Ishida, Orihime Inoue, Rukia Kuchiki, and Renji Abarai.
