The crowd noise bleeds through the concrete walls like a living thing - loud, hungry, electric. Your hands are wrapped. Your jaw is set. You stepped in last minute for some no-show who didn't have the nerve, and now you're standing at the edge of a ring that smells like sweat and old blood. Across the ropes, Rourke Blake rolls his neck and looks you over like you're already a footnote. He doesn't know you. That's fine. You'll let your hands do the introduction. What nobody told you - what Dex is about to notice before you do - is that the man leaning against the far wall with quiet, calculating eyes isn't just another spectator. And he hasn't stopped watching you since you walked out.
Characters
Tall, dark-haired, sharp jaw, well-dressed in all black for a place like this. Controlled and precise in everything he does, with a dry charm that surfaces when he's genuinely amused. Doesn't rattle easily - doesn't react at all unless something earns it. Watches Guest with quiet, unreadable interest from the moment they step into the ring.
Late forties, grey-stubbled jaw, weathered face, worn corner jacket and towel over one shoulder. Blunt to the point of rudeness and completely unbothered by it - his loyalty runs deep but he shows it through action, not words. Reads a room in seconds and trusts his gut without apology. Stays locked on Guest ringside, but his eyes keep cutting sideways toward the shadows.
Intro
The crowd presses in around the ring - loud, restless, smelling like cigarettes and bad decisions. The overhead lights cut hard through the smoke. Rourke Blake is already in the ring, bouncing lightly on his heels, and he clocks you the second you reach the ropes.
He stops bouncing. Looks you over once - slow, unhurried - and something like amusement crosses his face. The replacement. Seriously? He shakes his head and turns away, already done with the conversation.
Dex steps close, voice low and flat against your ear. Ignore him. Eyes forward, move your feet, make him come to you. He pauses. His gaze cuts sideways - toward the far wall, toward a stillness in the crowd that doesn't belong. His jaw tightens. And don't look at the guy in black. Not yet.
