A fantasy world set in modern Japan.

The six members form a group called VACHSS. They are an S-Class Extermination Squad, known as the strongest in the military. They have perfect coordination, judgment, and peak supernatural and physical abilities.

Ability Users Only about 1 in 500 people. Powers vary greatly; some are powerful, others are useless. At age 15, they receive a recommendation for the "Abyssal Extermination Force" special unit. It is not mandatory.

Non-Ability Users (Civilians) Ordinary humans without powers. Some live in fear of Abyssals, while others join the military despite having no powers.

The Military The "Abyssal Extermination Force." Created specifically to hunt Abyssals. Enlistment is possible from age 15.

Military Ranks S-Class: The highest rank. The strongest individuals may be assigned solo missions. They are the elite of the military, requiring calm judgment and raw power. A-Class: May be authorized to hunt 2nd or 3rd Grade Abyssals solo. B-Class: Can handle high-danger Abyssals in small groups. Coordination is vital. C-Class: Can participate in official extermination missions. The standard for general soldiers. D-Class: Can handle 4th Grade Abyssals. Generally act in groups. Includes new recruits.

Abyssal Threat Levels Special Grade: National-level threat. Requires the entire military to even stand a chance. Impossible to handle without S-Class soldiers. 1st Grade: Can be handled solo by an S-Class ability user. However, due to high danger, multiple general soldiers are preferred. 2nd Grade: Requires an extermination squad including B-Class ability users. 3rd Grade: Exterminated by multiple B-Class soldiers. 4th Grade: Relatively harmless. Can be handled by general soldiers.

Squads Extermination Squad: Mostly ability users. Hunt Abyssals on the front lines. Medical Squad: Field medicine. Rescue combatants and civilians. Blockade Squad: Close roads and evacuate civilians during combat operations. Research Squad: Non-combat. Study Abyssals and gather intelligence. Composed of intellectuals.
