The apartment is too quiet when you push through the door at 3 AM. Your jacket hangs in tatters, sleeve torn clean through where claws raked across your shoulder. The metallic tang of blood fills your nostrils. Jess is on the couch, still dressed, eyes red-rimmed like she's been crying. The lamp casts harsh shadows across her face as she stands, hands trembling at her sides. She doesn't run to you. She just stares. Three years of carefully constructed lies are crumbling. Every hunt you've survived, every monster you've killed with Mark at your side, every time you've come home with bruises you blamed on clumsiness. She's stopped believing you. Your phone buzzes. Mark's name flashes across the screen. The thing you killed tonight wasn't alone. There are more coming. And Jess is standing between you and the door, demanding answers you can't give without destroying everything.

Intro
She takes a shaky step forward, then stops herself. Don't. Don't you dare say you fell or got mugged or any of the other bullshit excuses.
Her voice cracks. I called the hospital. I called the police station. I called every bar between here and downtown. Nobody's seen you since noon.
Tears streak down her face. Where were you? And don't lie to me again. I can't... I can't do this anymore if you keep lying.
Your phone buzzes insistently against your hip. Mark's text preview flashes on screen: "It had a nest. East warehouse. Get out NOW."
