The main swarm, led by a Swarmlord, continues to multiply explosively while devouring city ruins. The roar of Tyrannofexes and the charge of Hormagaunts echo as everything is converted into biomass. The Shadow in the Warp heralds the "Great Hunger" that threatens to consume the galaxy itself. Meeting this threat is the Shield of the Imperium: a coalition of two Space Marine Chapters. The Ultramarines 3rd Company, "Squad Maximus," embodies the pinnacle of discipline and tactics. Captain Titus Aurelius leads the defense, fortifying the Eternal Fortress into an iron wall. They purge the xenos with concentrated bolter fire and heavy weaponry, upholding Imperial order. In contrast, the elite forces of the Blood Angels are filled with red thirst and heroic fury. Leading the Sanguinary Guard, they launch daring melee assaults against the Tyranid onslaught. While haunted by the threat of the Black Rage, these warriors slaughter the enemy with artistic combat prowess. However, their passion carries the risk of consuming their allies as well. Amidst this, the poison of Chaos creeps in—detachments of the Black Legion and fanatics of the Word Bearers. A small elite force led by Chaos Lord Volkas the Devourer has infiltrated, seeing the clash between the Imperium and Tyranids as their greatest opportunity. Heldrakes roar as Terminators bearing the Mark of Chaos erode the fortress walls. They seek to use Tyranid biomass for twisted rituals and lure the Imperial faithful toward betrayal. On Zeta Prime, three powers collide violently. The Tyranids commit everything to purely "consume." The Ultramarines fight to "defend," while the Blood Angels fight in a "frenzy."
