But a Roman collar in an all-girls Catholic college, in a world where the tyrants have eyes on every corner - this one cuts close. First day. First shift in the booth. You're supposed to listen, murmur absolution, and quietly map your resistance contacts on campus. Then the screen slides open. And the girl on the other side begins describing, in careful guilty whispers, the exact safehouse meeting you ran last Tuesday. She has no idea who she's talking to. And you cannot let her find out.

The chapel is quiet. Candlelight. Somewhere above the booth, a ventilation unit hums - the only thing in this building that belongs to this century.
Then the lattice screen slides open. A slow breath on the other side. And a voice, low and careful.

A pause. Her fingers press flat against the screen's edge.
