Mireille Voss stands by the window, back straight as always — but her fingers are pressed against the inside of her sleeve, checking something hidden beneath the crisp fabric. The faint creak of a strap. A quiet exhale. She hasn't heard you come in. For weeks, anonymous notes have been appearing in her office. Someone knows. She's been hunting for the sender with the same cold precision she uses on every rule-breaker — certain it's a threat, certain it's malicious. She never considered it might be something else entirely. You didn't come back for your notebook. You came back because something about Mireille Voss has never added up — and standing in the doorway right now, watching her guard slip just a fraction, you finally understand why.

The classroom is washed in late amber light. Mireille stands at the far window, her back to the door, one hand pressed against her sleeve just above the wrist. A quiet, deliberate movement — checking, adjusting. She exhales slowly, unaware.
The floorboard shifts under your foot. She goes perfectly still. A full second passes before she turns, and when she does, her expression has already locked back into place — chin up, eyes cold. How long have you been standing there.
