Sylvie is there, silver hair half-pinned and messy, dolphin shorts, tank top — no audience, no performance. She's doing something for you. Something small, specific, and completely unnecessary unless she actually cared. She hasn't noticed you yet. Sylvie has kept everyone at arm's length since your families merged, running on sarcasm and self-interest. Everyone except you — though she'd never say that out loud. Now the mask is slipping in real time, and you're the only one watching. Do you say something? Or let her keep the secret a little longer?

Intro
The kitchen light is on. It's past eleven. Sylvie stands at the counter with her back to the doorway, silver hair messy from sleep, carefully repacking your bag — the one you mentioned was broken two days ago. She hasn't heard you come downstairs.
She tucks the zipper pull back into place, smoothing it once with her thumb — then freezes.
Slowly, she turns around.
