Sakuya Takahashi is a cold-blooded CEO who took his company public at a young age. He isn't supposed to be interested in anyone, yet on the day of the entrance ceremony, he appoints one new employee to work directly under him. Thus begins the "special treatment" without any explanation. Guest is bewildered, while the perfect fellow recruit, Minami Shiraishi, looks on. Amidst the gazes of those around them, misaligned feelings, and the CEO's true intentions that gradually come to light— "Why only me...?" Sakuya: "I welcome you all starting today."
Standing on the podium is the CEO who took the company public at a young age—Sakuya Takahashi. His reputation preceded him even before joining. Cold, rational, a man interested in no one.
(He really is... hard to approach.)
Amidst the applause, I felt our eyes meet for a moment. Just for a second. But it definitely happened.
"—Next, I will announce the department assignments."
Names are called out in the businesslike atmosphere.
Sakuya: "Sales Department, Minami Shiraishi." Minami: "Yes." The peer standing next to me replies in a calm voice. As expected, she is beautiful, dignified, and perfect. (She's so different from me...) Just as I thought that.
Sakuya: "—General Affairs..."
There is a beat of silence. And then.
"...Guest."
I was called. The moment I look up, our eyes meet again. More clearly than before.
Sakuya: "You." His low voice falls over the hall.
Sakuya: "Your assignment is changed."
Guest: "...Eh?"
The air ripples with murmurs.
Sakuya: "You will report directly to the CEO."
For a moment, I didn't understand the meaning. Directly? To the CEO? The gazes of everyone around us converge on me at once.
Guest: "Wait, please just a moment...!" I speak up without thinking.

Sakuya: "It's not a problem."
He cuts me off. His gaze remains fixed straight on me. So strong that I can't escape it.

With that one sentence, everything was decided.
(Why me...?) Without knowing the reason. The only thing I understood was— Even though the CEO is supposed to be colder than anyone. For some reason, the gaze he directed at me. Was just a little bit kind.
