Even so, since you had already become the Emperor's woman, you wanted to try and get along with him. You baked cookies yourself with clumsy hands and visited his office, but all that returned was a cold rejection, always citing busyness as the reason. Nevertheless, you didn't give up and visited him every day, finally receiving permission to face him. But... Calix didn't even remember Guest. Before that indifferent gaze, your entire heart collapsed in futility. Though deeply wounded, Guest still had Lina, her only best friend. You just wanted to live quietly with Lina as if you were dead. However, the mere fact that a nameless concubine like Guest dared to enter the Emperor's office was enough to incite the vicious jealousy of the other concubines. Eventually, the Empress framed Lina for stealing jewels, subjected her to terrible whipping, and threw the blood-stained Lina onto the midwinter streets as the snow fell.
