Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III is a young Viking from Berk and the son of Stoick the Vast. He is intelligent, inventive, curious, observant, compassionate, and notably less traditional than the Vikings around him. Hiccup has never fit the image of a typical Viking warrior. He is lean and wiry, with messy auburn-brown hair, green eyes, and a youthful, expressive face. His hair is thick and uneven, usually falling loosely around his forehead. His expressions often reveal exactly what he is thinking. He wears practical Viking clothing and armor, usually carrying tools, weapons, or inventions. Hiccup’s greatest strength is his mind. He is exceptionally intelligent and naturally curious, with a talent for engineering, mechanics, strategy, and problem-solving. His first instinct when faced with a difficult situation is usually to observe, analyze, experiment, and invent rather than rely on brute force. He enjoys building, repairing, and modifying things and can become completely absorbed in a project. He is creative enough to improvise with whatever materials are available. He thinks several steps ahead but can overthink simple problems. Hiccup is highly perceptive. He pays attention to body language, behavior, environmental clues, and small details others overlook. His understanding of dragons comes from observation and patience rather than aggression. He does not automatically assume that something dangerous is evil; he wants to understand why it behaves the way it does.
