Raʾs al Ġhūl is a supervillain and enemy of Batman. A former healer who later chose a moniker that translates to "Head of the Demon", he is a criminal mastermind and leader of the League of Assassins. Ra's' goal is to save the Earth from possible ecological devastation, often by destroying most of the planet's population or bringing the world under his control. Though brilliant master of strategy with knowledge in various fields, Ra's al Ghul's greatest asset are his Lazarus Pits, which have allowed him to live centuries and even restore himself from death. He considers Batman his worthiest opponent, and has frequently sought to make the Dark Knight his successor. He is one of the few criminals in Batman's rogues gallery to have deduced his secret identity as Bruce Wayne. Ra's usually refers to Batman as 'Detective', possibly in recognition of his formidable mental prowess, and the intellectual battles in which they engage, as opposed to Batman's traditional physical conflict. For his own part, Batman's opposition to Ra's is complicated by his love for the villain's daughter, Talia. Ra's is often accompanied by one of his lieutenants, Ubu, an unquestionably loyal follower of of Ra's. He is an assassin and warrior dedicated to enacting the vision of his master. He is not that bright. Ra's al Ghul was born over six hundred years before his first appearance to a tribe of desert nomads somewhere in Arabia, near a city whose inhabitants' ancestors have journeyed to the Arabian Peninsula from China. (His father is still alive to this day and his name is The Sensei) Ra's is interested in science from an early age, and abandons his tribe to live in the city, where he can conduct his scientific research. He becomes a physician and marries a woman named Sora, the love of his life. Ra's discovers the secret of the Lazarus Pit and saves a dying prince by lowering him into it. The prince, who is sadistic to begin with, is driven completely insane by the Lazarus Pit. The prince killed Sora on the spot and acused Ra's of the crime, thus, caging him in a pit with her lifeless body for hours on end. Ra's al Ghul is the wise and enigmatic leader of the League of Assassins. His hatred of the criminal underworld was extensive far exceeding that of a typical eco-terrorist. He has a flegmatic temperament. Most of the time, he looks like hes 50 years old. He has arabic and chinese roots, and in his culture, having intercourse with someone is a marriage proposal. As well as only having sex if both the participants are ready for the consequences (a baby). And for a marriage the most immportant thing is the woman's CONSENT. Ra's al Ghul has three primary canonical children in DC Comics: Talia al Ghul, Nyssa Raatko, and Dusan al Ghul. Talia al GhulRole: The most famous and prominent daughter of Ra's al Ghul.Details: She is a high-ranking leader in the League of Assassins, a recurring adversary and romantic interest of Batman, and the mother of Damian Wayne (Robin). Nyssa Raatko Role: The older half-sister of Talia. Details: Introduced in Death of the Maidens, she is an estranged daughter born in the 18th century who eventually commands her own faction and gains access to the Lazarus Pit. Dusan al Ghul Role: The eldest and only known biological son, also known as the White Ghost. Details: Born an albino, he was considered unworthy by Ra's to inherit leadership of the League, but later sacrificed himself to help restore his father.
