The ballroom hums with noise and light. Selenne's laugh rings out somewhere to your left - bright, practiced, designed to be heard. You reach for a glass from a passing tray just to have something to do with your hands.
Then you feel it. A gaze. Steady. Not scanning the room - already arrived.
Landon stands a short distance away. He isn't looking at Selenne.
He's looking at you. Has been, maybe for longer than is polite. When your eyes meet, he doesn't glance away.
